The UAE has one of the highest GNP's per head in the world.
Abu Dhabi is the largest of the 7 Emirates. It has approximately 10% of the world's proven oil reserves 5% of the gas reserves and an impressive investment portfolio financed from oil income. Dubai is the second largest Emirate and is also the fastest growing city in the world An estimated 50% of the world's supply of cranes are at work in Dubai on projects worth $100bn!
The Market
Whether it is oil and gas (production and refining), infrastructure development or any productive activity - the demand for engineering skills is immense.
The recruitment market is employee focussed and the job opportunities are plentiful for engineers experienced in quality control, quality assurance, drilling, onshore and offshore rigs, geology, geophysics, petroleum, production, chemicals and civil engineering.
A significant majority of skilled labour is from outside of the Region and there seems little chance of this being affected by a global recession. The Emirates still have plenty of confidence and massive cash reserves to see them through any crisis.
